At Bircroft, we are at the heart of the UK’s property market, sourcing and delivering tailored funding solutions to assist with the development, purchase, re-financing and re-structuring of property assets and portfolios.
Acting on behalf of property companies, family trusts and high net worth private individuals throughout the country and across Western Europe, we have established an enviable reputation for delivering high levels of personal and professional service introducing quality borrowers to the lending market place.
Established in 2010 and still run by the original founders, since day one we have prioritised face-to-face communication with top lending institutions and associated professionals, developing successful long-term relationships within the property and lending markets. As a result, the team has placed c£12bn of debt with lenders worldwide for our clients.

MEET THE TEAM
Mark Selwood
Director
7 years at Bircroft Private, specialising in large ticket commercial investment facilities (senior and mezzanine finance) for assets predominantly in the UK and Western Europe.
Previously 3 years as Business Development Manager at the London office of Northern Rock Commercial Finance. This focused on long-term lending for both commercial investment and owner-occupied business finance.
Tom Robinson
Director
7 years at Bircroft Private specialising in commercial and residential development finance.
Also played a key role in establishing an off-shore equity/mezzanine fund within the Bircroft Property Finance Group, to assist developers and investors with their leveraged property investments.
Paul Wallace
Director, Bircroft Ireland
Based in Dublin, Paul uses our extensive UK and International lending network to source highly competitive deals for Irish clients.
Paul has over 15 years in the Commercial property industry. He formerly worked at Jones Lang LaSalle Ireland with responsibility for overseas Investment before setting up the Bircroft Ireland office. Paul is also a former Ireland and British & Irish Lions international rugby player.
Kerr Potter
Director, Scotland
Co-launched the Bircroft Private in Scotland business in November 2024 after identifying an opportunity to raise awareness of property funding solutions in the local marketplace. Based in Glasgow and covering the whole of Scotland, Kerr takes great delight in providing high-quality, honest and timeously advice to investors and developers across the various real estate sectors.
Kerr commenced his career in 2005 with Royal Bank of Scotland, before departing in 2022 to better understand the challenger market landscape with Cynergy Bank in Scotland. During his life as a lender, he supported a multitude of different client types ranging from private families through to large corporate businesses and institutional funds.
James Barclay
Director, Scotland
James co-launched Bircroft Private in Scotland with Kerr in November 2024 with the strategic aim of establishing a best-in-class debt advisory business that serves the respective property markets in Scotland and the North of England. James prides himself on facilitating bespoke financing solutions for property investors and developers across all sectors from commercial to residential.
James’ property finance experience spans 10+ years having joined the Royal Bank of Scotland’s Real Estate Finance team in 2013. During this time James has managed a diverse portfolio of clients ranging from large corporate and institutional developers/ investors to HNW private families.
David Birchenall
Consultant
CEO and founder of Bircroft Private & Bircroft Insurance Services Ltd. David has previously held senior positions in the Real Estate lending team at CIBC and various roles within Barclays Plc dating back to 1977.
David has over 35 years experience in the market and his broad network of contacts provides access to a widespread of property professionals.
